The Nepal-Korea Business Entrepreneurs’ Association (NKBEA) has been officially launched in Seoul, South Korea with the aim of fostering stronger economic ties and increasing investment between the two nations. The formal inauguration took place on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, bringing together Nepali and Korean business professionals.

Key objectives of the NKBEA include facilitating investment opportunities for Nepali businesses in South Korea and Korean businesses in Nepal. The association intends to serve as a platform for information sharing, networking, and addressing challenges faced by entrepreneurs from both countries. The launch event itself saw participation from a diverse array of stakeholders, emphasizing the broad interest in the initiative reported by myRepublica.

The association's formation is a direct response to the increasing interest of both Nepali and Korean businesses in expanding their international presence. South Korea has become a significant destination for Nepali migrant workers and a key source of foreign investment within Nepal, particularly in sectors such as tourism, manufacturing and technology. The NKBEA looks to build upon this existing relationship.

Speaking at the inaugural event, the founders highlighted their commitment to creating a sustainable and mutually beneficial business environment. A focus will be placed on improving the ease of doing business, addressing bureaucratic hurdles, and providing support services to members. The association’s organizers foresee that increased business interaction will also lead to greater cultural understanding between the two countries.

This initiative comes at a time when there is growing interest from the Nepali diaspora in leveraging their international networks for the economic development of Nepal. The NKBEA provides a crucial link for Nepali entrepreneurs already operating in South Korea and facilitates new opportunities for those looking to engage. Further, it opens avenues to learn and adopt Korean best practices.

For the Nepali diaspora residing in South Korea, the establishment of the NKBEA is particularly significant. It provides a structured network for Nepali entrepreneurs and businesses operating in the country and those wishing to do so. This association will offer resources and build capacity to tap into Korean markets, create partnerships, and encourage investment back home.
